Transportation Subsidy Programs
The City of Pico Rivera has three transportation subsidy programs for its residents. Students, seniors and handicapped residents can purchase bus tickets/passes at discounted costs.
Students and the handicapped can purchase theirs at the Recreation & Community Services Building (6767 Passons Boulevard) while seniors can purchase theirs at the Senior Center (9200 Mines Avenue) during specified hours. In addition, Pico Rivera operates a Dial-a-Ride service at no cost to residents who are at least 55 years old or who are handicapped.
Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) Bus Passenger Subsidy Program
The City of Pico Rivera subsidizes the purchase of monthly MTA bus passes for selected residents through its Proposition "A" funds.
Handicapped passengers pay only $3 for a monthly pass; senior citizens, $7; elementary/high school students, $10 and college/vocational students, $13. This represents a subsidy of up to $17 per pass!
Passes are sold from the 25th day of each month through the 10th day of the following month. Senior citizens can buy passes at the Senior Center (9200 Mines Avenue); students and the handicapped at the Recreation & Community Services Building (6767 Passons Boulevard). Sale hours at the Senior Center is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at
the Recreation Building.

Dial-A-Ride service was inaugurated in 1984 using Proposition "A" sales tax revenue. The service is provided at NO COST to residents who are at least 55 years old and to all who are handicapped.
The Pico Rivera Dial-A-Ride fleet includes five comfortable air-conditioned vans. All are equipped with a lift for passengers using wheelchairs. Service is available seven days a week. Full daytime service is offered weekdays; Saturday service is available 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday service until 1 p.m.
Qualified residents may take Dial-a-Ride trips inside City limits for any purpose such as shopping, attending craft classes, club meetings or appointments, among others.
Transportation to locations outside City limits is limited to a radius of six miles of City Hall. These trips are restricted to medical appointments, education or social services (like Social Security) office visits.
